The Milwaukee Bucks set a new NBA record for three-pointers in a game – netting 29 3-pointers in a 144-97 win over the Miami Heat (28th December, 2020).

Milwaukee dominated the match – opening up a 51 point lead at one stage. The Bucks broke the Houston Rockets’ record of 27 three-pointers in a single game (7th April, 2019 vs the Phoenix Suns). The Bucks matched the previous 27 point record mark with just less than eight minutes to go, setting up Sam Merrill to make the record-breaking shot with only 6:07 left in the last quarter.

There had been a total of 108 previous regular-season NBA games with a team attempting 50 or more 3-pointers. The Bucks were the first team to attempt fifty 3-pointers in a game and net 50% or better on those attempts.
