Hockey Superstar Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins (30-11-8) scored his 500th NHL goal against the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday night, also becoming the 2nd player in Penguins history to reach the mark (joining Mario Lemieux).

Crosby’s 500th goal came midway through the first period on the power play, when he one-timed a cross-ice pass from Russian teammate Evgeni Malkin (also alternate captain of the Pens).

It was his 50th goal against rivals the Philadelphia Flyers, his highest tally of goals against any team Crosby has faced.
The 34-year-old is the 46th active NHL player to reach the 500-goal mark, and only the second active player to achieve it trailing behind just Alex Ovechkin, (currently fourth all-time goal-scorer in the league with 759).

Crosby is one of the best scorers in the game, and among his accolades has won the Rocket Richard Trophy twice for being the NHL’s highest scorer in a season (in 2011 and again in 2017).

The three-time Stanley Cup champion and two-time Olympic gold medalist has 1,370 points in 1,077 games, placing him 7th on the all-time in points per game leaderboard.
